Some of the members of the team are:
Lim Kwang Keat, James Tian TK, Festus Thomas, Dr. Francis Lian, Col. Png Been Hin, Jimmy Soon and Shirley Chong.
Project Philosophy: is based on the following commission from God our Creator.
'Eden Garden Hub' Team is motivated by the belief that all human beings are created in the image of God and need to be respected, loved and cared for irrespective of race, language, creed or culture. We believe that we need to be responsible stewards of His Creation and that one day each one of us will have to give an account to our creator on how well we carried out our responsibilities.
God’s commission is given in the first chapter of the Book of Genesis from verses 27 to 29.
“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground".
Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food".
Nature of the Collaboration:
We are not a registered entity yet. However the project is being developed as a sustainable 'Social Enterprise' Initiative.
Objectives of the Project:
a) Eco Garden Hub
Live POC garden that demonstrates the latest and best approach to Urban farming that uses 'Syntropic' farming methods developed in Sarawak by Dr. Francis Lian. The project will also connect with Eco-farm initiatives in Singapore and around the world to demonstrate such methods in the Collaboration Hub.
This approach goes beyond organic farming or vertical farming as an option to grow food in selected areas in an Urban setting by reclaiming and protecting the soil minimising the use of chemicals that poison the soil. This syntropic farming is also referred to as 'Nature Driven Farming'
b) Experiential Garden
Develop an urban garden that provides an enjoyable natural environment for various communities like Students, Families, Retirees to experience nature and enjoy the company of others in the community to relax, work in the garden and share skills in growing, preparing and eating healthy food.
c) Educational Garden
Provide a learning environment for students as well as all other age groups to take charge of a section of the garden to plan, plant, nurture the garden by using 'Syntropic' approach. Partner with local and international entities who are developing sustainable Eco initiatives to demonstrate and educate the community on innovative approaches.
Use of mobile application from LocoMole to develop research and educational content to understand various plants and designing the mix of plants using Syntropic Techniques and other Eco-friendly methods.
Use a local kitchen to learn healthy cooking using the produce from the garden and also using 'Food as Medicine' to manage health better.
d) Exchange Program Collaborations
As a start, connect with Farming Communities in Sarawak & Sabah to provide opportunities for Singaporeans to visit similar farms overseas. Provide opportunities for the young Agri Entrepreneurs from Sarawak/Sabah to come to Singapore to work in the 'Eden garden Hub' to interact and learn together with Singaporeans.
Develop similar exchange programs with international communities interested in such Urban farming methods.
e) Empowering Marginalised
A hub to connect with marginalised in Singapore and empower them with activities in the Eco Garden.
Facilitate Singaporean with financial resources to partner with Marginalised Farming communities in Sarawak & Sabah in projects that can contribute to Economic Empowerment of these communities while helping to grow healthy produce that can also meet the food security needs of Singapore.
